So what is happening Cork Monkey
First of all I apologise as this site is meant to consist of recipes - however while the first phase (setting up the blog ) was successful the second ( writing the stuff ) has been postponed. I will try to put something on here daily but it looks like no recipes until Monday the 28th November.
All the best

Cupcake Calamity
Cupcake creator Rachel Brown was sure her decorated cupcakes were going to be popular. She just didn’t realise how popular.
Small business owner Rachel Brown decided to drum up trade with a online deal and found herself deluged and her profits for the year gone!
The nightmare started when she used money-saving website Groupon offering their subscribers a 75 per cent discount on a dozen cakes selling twelve for £6.50 instead of the usual £26.
She found herself inundated with orders as cupcake loving punters saw a chance to have their cake and eat it. Mrs Brown, who normally makes 100 cupcakes a month, found herself having to bake a over 100,000 and because of her ‘deal’ reportedly make a loss of £2.50 on every order.
A bad businesswoman? Not a bit of it. Cork Monkey is pleased to see that that she tried to meet this surge in demand, was worried about her companies reputation and how quality would be affected by using new staff. A company run by a board of accountants may have walked away, or if contractually unable to do that, bought in cheaper product in order to remain in the black. I applaud this attitude so if you feel a need for cake visit Need-A-Cake and help her get out of the red.
Please note this is just a link to the cupcake site I have no financial or personal relationship with Mrs Brown and am not advertising for her - its just here if you want it.

MANAGING DIRECTOR OF PEE COLA IN HOT WATER!
Seven people, including Mr. Haren Patel, the Managing Director of Pee Cola Limited, were arrested on Thursday by the police following an assault upon residents of Agbogloshie, near the Accra Brewery.
Yes it is a real brand!
Those arrested were an unlikely gang whose ages ranged between 20 and 55 years but were found to be in possession of a number of weapons including two pistols, live ammutions and knives. The gang claim to have been hired by Mr Patel to protect a disputed area of land on his behalf.
The gang believe they were employed to protect Mr Patels interests in the land by scaring people away or if that failed by attacking and harrassing people. They found and and attacked twenty seven year old Andrews Cobbina, a car parts dealer at Abossey Okai, who was returning from work. Mr Cobbina, has been admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, with cutlass wounds following the assaults on him by Patel’s thugs.
It is just possible somone is taking the pee!

Is there a difference between Everton Mints and Humbugs and are they related to football?
Oh great, more football! These are, we believe similar but not the same.
They are hard candy sweets. It would appear that humbugs can be in variety of colours but are usually dark brown and tan or something similar and Everton mints are typically black and white.
So are they related to football?
Everton is a suburb of the city of Liverpool in the UK. It has a strong community identity and its own football team.
A Toffee sweet made by a toffeeshop close to the Everton football ground was sold to football spectators as the ”Everton Toffee” on the way to the match. It became quite famous locally so when Everton Football Club moved the location of its ground others sought to imitate the success of this venture and so the Everton Mint was created. Humbugs are also believed to have originated In the North of England and that Humbug is also means a joke, hoax or nonsense is probably a coincidence. It is unlikely to have been related to football either.
Anyway you can find both humbugs and Everton Mints at Bay Traditional Sweets who provided the samples for research…. Honest guv, we were working and didn’t enjoy eating them at all. (:(|)CM
